LTA3

Please note that applications are not yet being accepted for LTA3. You will be notified by your employer when applications will be accepted.

Who is this for?

An LTA3 registrant will be a skilled and experienced technician who has successfully attended a series of assessed course programmes - may be a product specialist.

How to register

  • Registrants will have been assessed by the manufacturer as having attended recognised courses/qualifications provided by manufacturers and others.
  • Candidates must meet all the qualifications for LTA2 registration.
  • ‘Career path’ demonstration via CPD is essential for continuing at this tier and/or for progress to the LTA4 register.
  • Will include a demonstration of technical ability and engineering principles, electrics / hydraulics / engines / transmissions and use of diagnostic equipment. This may be by inclusion within existing training and certification or by independent approved assessors.
  • Please note that we are not initially accepting applications for LTA3 and LTA4. They will be accepted once the LTA2 registration process has been completed.
  • To apply for registration under the scheme, click the Register button above.

What do we give you?

  1. You will receive a photo id card giving details of the:
    • LTA tier you are registered at
    • Your qualifications
    • Your unique LTA registration number
    • Date of accreditation
    • When the card expires
    • When re-accreditation is due
    • Externally assessed courses you have attended
    • Designatory letters after your name (see below).
  2. Existing LTA3 registrants may have their accreditation renewed upon payment and evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Acceptable CPD will include, for example, new manufacturers’ or similar courses, renewal/refresher of existing courses, attendance at IAgrE Branch and/or technical meetings or any equivalent activity.
  3. CPD assessment/ratification will be by the manufacturer and/or a specialist CPD panel.
  4. LTA3 registrants will have personalised logins and be able to see and update (indirectly) online their personal contact details.
  5. An A4 certificate of LTA3 registration (suitable for framing and display) giving name, grade and dates will be available at a supplementary (£5) charge.

LTA3 registrants will be required to be registered as an Engineering Technician – EngTech and thus must become Corporate Members of the IAgrE. A membership fee is payable. If you are not yet a member of IAgrE, application forms can be downloaded in Word or pdf formats. Evidence of suitable CPD will be required and college qualifications may be needed to gain EngTech registration depending on experience.

The LTA scheme has been recognised by EurAgEng (the European Society of Agricultural Engineers) and all those registered as EngTech through IAgrE will have the letters EurAgEngTech on their photo id card.

Registration as an Engineering Technician is an important component of this scheme. Manufacturers will expect all franchised dealers to register all their qualifying technicians under the LTA scheme and also to register their LTA3 technicians with the EC(UK) as Engineering Technicians through IAgrE.

Re-registration at the LTA3 tier will be required at least every five years. Photo ID (Registration) Cards are valid for one year only and will be re-issued on payment of the appropriate fees.

Re-assessment and Progression beyond LTA3

This will be by manufacturer assessment.
