Registration as Eng Tech

Registration as an Engineering Technician with the Engineering Council UK

IAgrE (The Institution of Agricultural Engineers) recognises manufacturer and dealer training courses for IAgrE Associate Membership and Engineering Technician Registration.

Engineering Technicians (EngTechs) are creative and skilled engineering practitioners, often with responsibility for operational engineering and operational staff. They will:

IAgrE has recognised and approved a number of manufacturer’s dealership apprenticeship schemes, run in conjunction with manufacturers' value-added training courses, as qualifying for entry into the Institution at Associate Member grade (AMIAgrE).

In addition, as a licensed body of the Engineering Council UK (ECUK), IAgrE is able to approve these Advanced Modern Apprenticeship / NVQ3 level entrants as qualifying for entry onto the Engineering Technician section of the Engineering Council’s Register of accredited engineering practitioners. Other (non-NVQ3) schemes may need to be accredited by the IAgrE on a case by case basis. Typically, these schemes will be run in partnership with a land based college in conjunction with a manufacturer's own value added product training.

Only by setting an example of professional excellence within the manufacturers can we expect dealer and manufacturer trained personnel to receive the professional recognition they deserve with their client base. As a sign of the importance manufacturers place in this professional recognition, industry has taken a lead by paying the qualifying individual's initial fees for:

This cost is typically £100 for a candidate 23 or under (EngTech AMIAgrE). At aged 25, candidates will be eligible for full Membership of IAgrE (EngTech MIAgrE).

NVQ based schemes currently recognised and approved by IAgrE are being operated by John Deere (UK) Ltd, in conjunction with Brooksby Melton College, and Claas UK Ltd run in conjunction with Writtle College. IAgrE has also assessed and approved the CNH Ltd National Diploma based apprenticeship scheme being run at Reaseheath College.
