Membership Grades

IAgrE offers grades of membership appropriate to all. 

As the professional body for scientists, technologists, engineers, managers and students in the land-based sector including agriculture, horticulture, forestry, amenity and the environment IAgrE provides a series of professional steps to facilitate your progress as you develop in your career.

The following grades are currently available:

  • Student
    This membership grade is for students following courses in scientific, engineering, agricultural engineering or other relevant technical subjects within the European Union. Student membership is sponsored by the Douglas Bomford Trust with no charge to the individual. Click to complete an online application form.
    If you have been with us as a student member, then the transition to the grade of Pre-professional will be automatic. Membership in this grade covers the the twelve month period following your graduation. Student members are eligible to upgrade to Associate (AIAgrE) for a small fee.   • Associate - AIAgrE
    This membership grade is for those who are actively involved or interested in the sector but who do not hold formal qualifications. Click here for full details of the fees.
  • Associate Member - AMIAgrE
    This membership grade is for those involved in the sector who hold technical qualifications acceptable to the IAgrE with at least 4 years of appropriate training/experience. A mature candidate route is available to candidates not holding formal academic qualifications. Associate Members holding appropriate academic qualifications may seek initial registration with the Engineering Council. Click here for full details of the fees.
  • Member – MIAgrE
    This grade is for those established in the sector who hold technical qualifications acceptable to the IAgrE. Other routes are available for those not holding formal academic qualifications. Members may be registered with the Engineering Council as EngTech, IEng, or CEng depending upon qualifications, expertise and experience. Members with appropriate qualifications and/or practical experience may apply for registration with the Society for the Environment through IAgrE.

  • Fellow – FIAgrE
    This grade is for senior members of the sector holding technical qualfications acceptable to the IAgrE. Other routes are available to candidates not holding formal academic qualifications.
